I finished the 2A term in uni and I finally had time to post again! Well, technically, I always had time but I finally "felt" like blogging again ;)

Finally… another post after nearly 2 months! There’s so much that happened in 2A that I’m not sure I can fit all of them on this page lol…

The midterm was a disaster… and that’s probably why I stopped posting after that. But fortunately, the finals went better (thank you morning exams). And I also think it’s thanks to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 as well . In fact, my friend and I played a combined total of around 80 hours of CoD during the 2 weeks of exam. I’d say it was a good way of relieving stress.

Last term, I watched I think 4 dramas, but some I still haven’t finished or will not ever finish. I watched:

Autumn Concerto (watched 4 or 5/20, will not continue watching)

Mei Ren Xin Ji (watched like 28/40 all during exams)

Buzzer Beat

JIN (watched 4/11)

I don’t really wanna post and spoilers of why I stopped watching Autumn Concerto, but let’s just say I got tired of plot cliches… The other 3 were pretty good imo.

Now my workterm starts next Monday, and I wonder what I’ll be doing for the next four months…

I suddenly became curious of my personality type and after doing a quick test, I found out that its ISTP (and it used to be ISTJ!)

I think I hold the record in my class for submitting assignments closest to the due date. I just submitted an assignment 5 minutes before it was due at midnight (I’ve done this probably TOO many times), but nothing feels better when you hit that submit button at the end.

Back to the topic of personality test, I had an interesting talk with my friend about personalities, specifically the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. He’s probably the only friend I know that would talk about these psychological stuff all day long, and sometimes I really enjoy talking with him until his ideas get too crazy and unconventional (at least to my standards). For anyone that don’t know, Myer-Briggs Type Indicator is an assessment to test someone’s personality, and it’s extremely accurate unlike lame horoscopes. Yes, even fortune cookies are more accurate than horoscopes.

I was suddenly curious one day about my personality type because one of my professors suddenly raised up the fact that he was INTP. Not to my surprise, not many people even knew what that meant. But I did. At first, I thought I was INTP as well, but I wasn’t sure so I decided to ask my friend. It ended up that I was suppose to be ISTJ (the supporter). I looked through my emails for the personality test I’ve done a long time ago, and it said that I was INTP. Since I was confused, I just retook the test and the results are on the image at the top.

I was pretty shocked when I saw my results. Extreme I, N, and T, and kind of midway between J and P. I’m not too surprised with the results though.
83% I – No wonder I’m blogging to myself right now and that I prefer to stay at my rez 99% of the time instead of hanging out with whomever.
Now, I think I was ISTJ before too, so why did I somehow change from J to P?

After comparing the characteristics of J and P, I came to the conclusion that I finally realized that I’m not as organized as I thought I was before. And notice the “procrastinate” under P, that’s definitely me. But there are also characteristics of J that I feel I’m more of such as “likes closure”. Even though I “go with the flow” in reality, I would really prefer to plan things out and finish my tasks asap.

For anyone that’s also interested in this test, take it at http://www.mypersonality.info. I think it’s a good way for anyone to learn more about themselves and other people.

I'm tired of procrastinating. Played 6 hours of Granado Espada and 5 hours of MW2 over the weekends when I have two assignments due the next 2 days. FML.

I thought I was going to be productive last weekend. As usual, nothing goes according to my plan in terms of finishing assignments.

On Saturday, I spent around 6 hours playing Granado Espada. My clannies and I were doing the Secret Tower dungeon. We went for two runs, and the outcome was okay being the first time we ever raided together. Lag and disconnects pretty much killed us both times – first run, the tank d/ced (gg lol), and during the second run, we were hit by the infamous ST lag and eventually everyone got d/ced. Awesome times

Then on Sunday, I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for 5 hours straight. I think everyone that joins the map Rust wouldn’t really want to stop playing cause of the constant action. I ended up with around 700 kills and 500 deaths. Before I knew it, it was Sunday midnight and I had an assignment due the next day. At that moment, I decided to start a jdrama – Buzzer Beat! I actually finished it just now, and overall I thought it was amazing.

One word (or three actually) – F.M.L.

To Leafs: Phaneuf, Sjostrom, Aulie, Giguere.
To Calgary: Stajan, Hagman, Mayars, White.
To Anaheim: Blake, Toskala

I didn’t even know the Leafs made two major trades last Sunday until one of my friends today messaged me and asked “did you see the trades?”, probably because I wasn’t following the Leafs closely lately (since they’re on quite a slump). I was pretty shocked when he showed me an article on TSN talking about the trade.

The Calgary Flames have traded defenceman Dion Phaneuf, forward Fredrik Sjostrom, and prospect defenceman Keith Aulie to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for forwards Matt Stajan, Niklas Hagman, Jamal Mayers and defenceman Ian White.

Source: http://www.tsn.ca/story/?id=308469

That pretty much sums it up. My initial reaction was “wow, we got ripped off big time!”. Stajan and White were in my opinion very hard workers in Toronto, and without Stajan and Hagman providing the offense that was already lacking, who’s gonna score our goals? I also thought White was one of our best defenseman. Now, I don’t even know who Sjostrom is, and my friend said “a fourth-line plug”, so… that’s great. My impression is that we now have two more players that love to hit and draw penalties, adding to our already “tough” team consisting of Beauchemin, Komisarek, Orr, and Rosehill. All in all, I don’t think picking a fight within the first five minutes of the game motivates the team nor the crowd very much anymore…

Then comes the news of the second trade – Blake and Toskala for J S Giguere. I personally like Giguere alot (had him in my fantasy league one year), but I’m one of the few that’s sad to see Toskala go (or am I the only one? ). I really wanted to see Toskala pick up his game and once again shine in Toronto, but I guess that is never going to happen now. I really wish him the best in Anaheim. For Blake, I’m not too sad to see him go because it just seems like he isn’t very enthusiastic to play in Toronto.

I just have to show a youtube video of Toskala because I believe he did try very hard, but I guess he’s just not meant to bring the Leafs to the championship.

I finished my first drama of the year - Hi My Sweetheart, and I'd say it's a pretty worthwhile series to watch for those interested in Taiwanese dramas.

Hi My Sweetheart is a Taiwanese Drama starring Rainie Yang and Show Luo. I finally finished the last ep today and I must admit I was decently surprised being the first twDrama that I’ve watched. I have never cared about Taiwanese actors or actresses at all before, but I guess Rainie and Show earned a bit of my respect for showing good acting skills

Synopsis (taken from DramaWiki):
Xue Hai was a certifiable dork when he first arrived in Shanghai. After his schoolmate Bao Zhu saved him from bullying, she became his first love. Then, a misunderstanding caused them to lose contact when she moved back to Taiwan. He thought she dumped him. So he transformed himself from a dork to a hunk in order to seek revenge.

For those that understand taiwanese, you can just watch the whole drama on youtube. I myself can understand a few words here and there, but that’s pretty useless since I can’t understand the whole idea lol, but I think I already learned quite a bit from one drama. So for those that don’t really understand like me, thankfully Still-Frames subbing group is subbing this drama. Thanks alot! There are megaupload/torrent links on their site.

Still-Frames

Have fun watching! Now, I gotta get back to studying

The BattleField: Bad Company 2 Beta offers a familiar interface to Battlefield 2 right when you enter the game, but I have been overwhelmed by lag on almost every server so far.

Seems like today I got a bit of stuff done, including remaking my webpage (although it’s far from finished). A friend that I met when I was playing Aion (I’ll call him Silent from now on) gave me a beta key to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve read alot of threads hyping up this game and I just had to see it for myself. Many people seem to have the opinion that it will be much better than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with its dedicated servers, big maps, punkbuster? – all of which MW2 did not have.

So I downloaded the 1.5gb client from fileplanet and installed it. Once I opened the game, I already sensed some familiarity with its interface being similar to Battlefield 2. When I went to play a game, however, was when the frustration begins.

the server finder was extremely slow and it made me wait a few minutes till it found EVERY single server

I couldn’t sort by latency?

the filters didn’t seem to work either

But I’d be fair, it’s only day 3 or something like that of the beta. What’d you expect? The worst experience by far though was the ingame lag. I joined a total of 4 servers, and the game was insanely laggy in all 4! First, I thought perhaps my laptop was finally showing some age, but even when I set the resolution to the lowest one and the quality to low, the lag was still there. Hopefully, it’s not my rig but the overloaded servers. I’ll have to confirm with Silent on this

Granado Espada won the 2006 Korean awards for Best Graphics and Game of the Year, with features previously unseen in an MMORPG (such as the ability for players to control multiple characters at the same time). GE features a unique art style based on the Baroque period of Europe, differing from the standard “sword and sorcery” fantasy themes of the genre.
